Lesson 78
The Work Jesus Gave His Disciples
These questions help highlight the importance of preaching, teaching, and working together in an organized way.
Did his disciples enjoy that work?
Yes, they enjoyed it very much, and they showed it by acting right away. Peter, Andrew, James, and John immediately left their nets and their business to follow Jesus, which reflects eagerness and willingness.
The 70 disciples who were sent out in pairs came back with great joy. They were thrilled to see how Jehovah supported their ministry and that even the demons were made subject to them.
Faithful women such as Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna also showed that they loved this work. They supported it with their own belongings and stayed close to the preaching activity.

Bible references for lesson 78
These references broaden the focus on preaching and show why this work has divine backing.
Luke 4:14-21
This passage shows that preaching was not a human idea. Jesus was anointed with holy spirit to declare good news, which confirms that our preaching work today also has divine backing.
Matthew 9:37, 38
Jesus compared people to a field ready for harvest. This teaches us that the work is urgent and that we must keep begging Jehovah to send out more workers while we take a full share ourselves.
Matthew 4:17-25
The news about Jesus spread as far as Syria and attracted many people from different regions. This teaches us that when a message comes from God and is positive, it draws people from all nations.
Practical lessons
Applications from lesson 78 for our life
These practical ideas show how we can imitate Jesus and support Kingdom work more effectively.
Versatile preaching
Jesus preached in synagogues, marketplaces, and streets. That teaches us to be versatile by using public witnessing, carts, and informal witnessing to reach people where they are.
Benefit from training
Jesus prepared his disciples before sending them out. That reminds us of the importance of making full use of the training we receive in the Life and Ministry Meeting so that we can become more skillful teachers.
Clear priorities
Jesus clearly knew his purpose: to announce the good news of the Kingdom. We too must keep that priority even when we have work, studies, or other responsibilities.
Everyone can support
The mention of the women who ministered to Jesus shows that all of us have an important place in the congregation. We can use our resources and abilities to support Kingdom work and care for our brothers and sisters.
Lesson 79
Jesus Heals Every Kind of Sickness
These questions highlight Jesus' power, compassion, and role as the King chosen by Jehovah.
Why could Jesus heal every kind of sickness?
Jesus could heal any sickness because Jehovah had anointed him with holy spirit and power. That power came directly from God and enabled him to heal the body and free those oppressed by the Devil.
He had the approval and backing of his Father. He was not acting with his own strength, but with Jehovah's spirit, which is why even those who touched the fringe of his garment were healed immediately.
His miracles proved that he was the King chosen by Jehovah. By healing the blind, the deaf, and the paralyzed, he was showing on a smaller scale what he will do worldwide under his future rule.
Besides divine power, Jesus had compassion. He never turned anyone away, and his motivation was always to use Jehovah's power to help and comfort people.
What happened to Jairus' daughter?
The girl was very sick and died before Jesus arrived at the house. Still, for Jesus death was not a final obstacle, which is why he said that she was only sleeping.
Jesus took the girl's hand and commanded: "Child, get up!" She immediately came back to life, and her parents were overwhelmed with joy.
After bringing her back to life, Jesus told them to give her something to eat. That practical detail shows that he also cared about the girl's immediate physical needs.
Final texts
Bible references for lesson 79
These references strengthen our faith in Jesus' power, compassion, and authority to heal and forgive.
Mark 2:1-12
Before healing the paralytic, Jesus told him that his sins were forgiven. This teaches us that the root of suffering is our inherited imperfection and that Jesus has the authority to deal with both sin and its effects.
Luke 17:11-19
Out of the ten lepers who were healed, only one returned to give thanks. This teaches us not to take Jehovah's blessings for granted, but to be grateful people who praise him for his goodness.
Matthew 14:36
Those who touched only the fringe of Jesus' garment were made completely well. This highlights both the faith of those who approached him and the immense amount of holy spirit that Jehovah had placed upon his Son.
Practical lessons
Applications from lesson 79 for our life
These ideas show how faith, gratitude, and compassion remain essential in the congregation today.
Persistence and friendship
The account of the paralytic who was lowered through the roof teaches the value of persistence and friendship. We should make a real effort to help others draw close to Jehovah even when obstacles appear.
Jesus understands our suffering
The woman who had been sick for twelve years shows that Jesus understands our suffering and desperation. He did not scold her, but treated her tenderly and sent her away in peace.
Death is like sleep
When Jesus said that Jairus' daughter was sleeping, he gave us a solid basis for the resurrection hope. For Jehovah and for Jesus, death is not an impossible barrier.
Self-sacrifice in helping others
Jesus did not turn anyone away, not even when he wanted to be alone. That teaches us to be willing to sacrifice personal time in order to help those who need spiritual support or comfort.

Jesus gave them the assignment of becoming "fishers of men." This meant leaving behind their former occupations and devoting themselves fully to finding right-hearted people and teaching them the good news of God's Kingdom.
He also entrusted them with a work of teaching and expansion. They were not only to preach, but also to make disciples and baptize them, a work that would extend throughout the earth until the conclusion of the system.
Jesus sent them out in an organized way. Luke 10:1 shows that he sent out 70 disciples two by two, which teaches us that the work was designed to be done as a team in order to cover more territory efficiently.
He also gave them the responsibility to be compassionate. Since people were harassed and helpless, they were to bring them hope and spiritual relief through the Kingdom message.
